This is the Citadel of David. While its now an impressive castle, in fact, it is a crusader built citadel, and now a museum, that I didnt have time to visit. While the whole of the Old City is a walled city, its at the walls that you get an even deeper historical feeling. As the guide reminded us, these are only 500 years or so – a mere nothing in the history of Jerusalem.

I liked the juxtaposition of the ancient walls and towers and the modern flag of the State of Israel fluttering above.
