The Front Cover
Check the look and feel of the cover. Because people do judge a book by a cover!
- Is the title right
- Is the subtitle right?
- Is the Author name right?
- Is the colour right?
- Is the image popping?
- Is it matte or glossy?
The back cover
Check the look and feel of the cover. Because people do judge a book by a cover!
- Is the title right
- Is the subtitle right?
- Is the Author name right?
- Is the book description right?
- Is the Author descriptions right?
The Spine
Check the spine, because that’s how it will look when on a bookshelf.
- Is the title right
- Is the subtitle right?
- Is the Author name right?
The Binding
Check if the binding is good.
Are the pages even?
Does it open to any page?
Page Formats
Check the left and right pages.
Do the topics break evenly?
Do all chapters start on the right page? that is the right page as opposed to the left page.
The margins
Because white space is as important as text!
Are the margins even?
Top margin
Bottom margin
Left and right margin
Inside margins and outside margins?
Header and Footer
Is the header of the left page correct? Does it have the author name?
Is the header of the right page correct?Does it have the book name?
Are the page numbers in the correct format?
Check the look and feel of the back cover. Again
Because people do judge a book by a cover!

How is the general look and feel of the book?

It would take me 3 weeks and nearly $40 for Amazon to ship me a proof copy of the paperback. The power of a team of early readers! I asked in my Facebook group, and had a dozen volunteers! The wonderful Tina was the first, and she did a great job! The proof reached her in 3 days, and so within 3 days, the checking of the proof was done, and I was ready to press Publish!
